I’m in the process of starting a new blog, now that my computer is up and running again, and I came across this contest on a friend’s website that is giving away a free bedding set:

Happy Birthday, Tian! August 15, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — oneroof @ 9:52 pm

Our sweet daughter, Tian celebrated her last birthday away from us on August 5. We had previously sent a care package to her, and then before her birthday, ordered a stuffed toy, camera, and cake to be delivered to her swi. I just got pictures emailed to me today from her birthday celebration, and she’s wearing the dress we had previously mailed to her! It’s a GOOD day!

Introducing Our New Daughter! August 7, 2007

It is with joy and thankfulness that we introduce our new daughter, Yong Feng Tian. Yong Feng is her surname, because she is from the town of Yong Feng in the Jiangxi province in China. Tian means “sweet.” We have decided to keep Tian (pronounced tee EN) because we love its meaning, we think she’s most certainly precious, and we’re now so used to calling her that, it would seem strange to change her name. She just celebrated her 2nd birthday on August 5 (we celebrated quietly by going out to Chinese for lunch, and shopping for some things we’ll need for our trip to her.) We are now just awaiting Travel Approval (TA) and then a couple of days after that we’ll receive our Consulate Appointment (CA). Right now, our agency is hoping to get TA back quickly, and have us flying out on August 30th. It can’t come soon enough!

Tian is 7 months old in the first photo. I can’t get her other two 7 month old photos to load right (they’re either too big for the screen or way too tiny.) We finally received an update on Tian, and the next two photos are when she was 23 months. Isn’t she just the cutest little thing? I can’t wait to kiss those cheeks!

Annie’s Book August 6, 2007

I made this book (and copied it to show y’all) in an attempt to help Annie realize why Mommy & Daddy are going to be gone so long. She is constantly talking about her sissy, but at 2.5, I’m just not sure how much she “gets.” Anyways…my attempt to be a good mommy!

So neat! May 22, 2007

Just a few days after going to Epcot and seeing the store pictured below, Bo and Clay went out for Chinese. Bo opened up his fortune cookie, and guess what the “Learn Chinese” word on the back of the fortune was? Yep…shangdian, which means store. Isn’t that cool?

This was just too cool! May 8, 2007

God is so good! Last Thursday, we went to Epcot for the day. (We have only been there once, and it was in early February before we found our little girl.) When we first got in the park, Annie wanted one of the park map flyers because Nemo & Dory are on the front. We grabbed one for her, and about five minutes later noticed that we had grabbed the one printed entirely in Chinese. Then later, we were heading to the China part of Epcot, of course! We walked up towards the gift shop, only to look at the name of it….Yong Feng Shandian. Well, that was another little surprise, because our daughter’s name is Yong Feng Tian, because she lives in the Yong Feng SWI (Social Welfare Institute) in the Jiangxi province. How cool is that? Yong Feng is a tiny village, so to see that name at Disney was just so neat! Even though the CCAA was not working last week because of the May holiday, I took it as reassurance from God that He is (still) over all of this, and that He’s watching over our little girl right now till we can bring her home.

Accidental Adoption March 22, 2007

“Accidental Adoption”

Have you ever noticed that you hear all the time about “accidental”pregnacies, but never about couples who experience “accidental” adoptions? Can you imagine:

Honey, sit down. I have some news for you.
What is it?

Well, I don’t know how to say this, so I’ll just come out with it. I went to the mailbox today and… well, we got a 171-H.
A what?!? A 171-H? As in, we’re going to have a(nother) baby?!?

It looks that way.
But how? We’ve been so careful! I put away all the blank I-600A forms. Didn’t you hide our homestudy update?

Of course I did, but don’t forget, there was that one night..
What night? (pauses) Ohhh, that night, But it was only once. We were just messing around. I didn’t print clearly. I didn’t even use ink! (pauses again) But it was kind of fun. (giggles). It was, wasn’t it?

I’ll never forget how cute you looked getting your fingerprints.
So now we’ve got our 171-H, eh? But that doesn’t always mean you’ll adopt, does it? I mean, shouldn’t you see the agency or something, make sure everything’s okay?

I already did.

I’m five documents along.
Five documents! And they’re all notarized, certified and authenticated okay?

Just great. There was one small scare when the agency couldn’t see the Notary’s middle initial but it showed up just fine under the magnifying glass. Thank God. And you, honey? Are you feeling okay?
I’m feeling fine. As long as I know you’re happy about this.

Happy? I’m thrilled! It’s always a shock at first when something like this happens, but of course I’m happy.
